It's RICE POUNDING DAY! This was an event that the kids had been anticipating for a long time. They put on their aprons and handkerchiefs to get ready for pounding rice.
Though it's heavy, they did their best to pound and pound and pound.
The kids behind cheered them to help them make the glutinous rice elastic. Later they will use it to mold into round rice cakes to be eaten in lunch time.
